Colonel Stephen V. Secraw, ASTS Commander

Colonel Stephen Secraw is the Commander of the 908th Aeromedical Staging Squadron
(ASTS). He also serves as the chief advisor to the Wing Commander for medical
readiness. Colonel Secraw ensures a healthy and fit force of 1200 Airmen to maximize
the operational and readiness performance of the 908th Airlift Wing. As the ASTS
Commander, Colonel Secraw ensures 120 medical Airmen are led, trained, and
resourced to execute the Aerospace Medicine Enterprise at the 908th AW and deployed
locations.

Colonel Secraw direct commissioned into the 934th ASTS, 934th Airlift Wing, located at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station in 2001 as a Critical Care Air Transport (CCATT) nurse. He has served as Flight Medical Readiness Officer, Director of Education and Training, Ancillary & Readiness Training, and Mobility of the 934th Aeromedical Staging Squadron’s (ASTS). Colonel Secraw joined the U.S. Air Force in 1987 and was assigned to 1962 Communications Squadron at Kadena AB, Okinawa as an Air Traffic Controller. As a member of the Air Force Reserve, he has provided medical care and aeromedical evacuation staging during several contingencies, which included Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Resolute Support.Additionally, he was the Commander of the 455th En Route Patient Staging (ERPSS) /455th Expeditionary Medical Group at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from October 2017 to May 2018. Finally, he was a Special Actions Officer working in direct daily support of the AMC Commander in the fall 2016.
Prior to his current position, he was the Chief Nurse and Flight Medical Readiness Officer of the 932nd Aeromedical Staging Squadron’s (ASTS) Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
