MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. --

Air University Press and AU Library staff invited the Maxwell community to celebrate the library’s newest addition, the AUP bookstore, Sept. 20, 2019, on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

The AUP is the publishing agent for the school and is responsible for the editing, publishing and distribution of scholarly books and research papers in the interest of force projection.

The new bookstore is located near the front entrance of the library and offers publications with topics regarding airpower and defense strategy, all of which are free to the base community.

Lt. Col. Darin Gregg, Air University Press director, took a moment to address the crowd and thank everyone who played a part in making this project a reality, including the civil engineering team and the library staff.

The grand opening also featured guest appearances from authors Dr. Greg Zacharias and Col. Joseph D. Celeski, whose books are available in the new store.

“The whole idea of AU Press is to pull in the research done from our faculty, who are experts in their fields, and from all over the country and globally,” said Dr. Mehmed Ali, AU Library Academic Services director. “The book store is now just a physical platform in which we can showcase this research and push it out to our students.”

The book store is now open during the library’s normal operating hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
