T o the men and women of the 908th AW:

I would like to say thank you.

Thank you for the opportunity to lead the finest unit in 22nd Air Force!

Thank you for the continued course of excellence you have championed!

Thank you and your families for their everlasting love and dedication to you and our way of life!

Thank you and your families for the continued sacrafises you have made while being on the front line of defense for our nation!

Thank you for putting on that uniform every day!

Thank you for ensuring our flag waves proudly!

Lastly, thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Air Force Reserve!

While there are varied mission sets throughout the 908th, in reality, it is all of you that enable our mission to be successful. Without you, we cannot get our pay; without you, we cannot ensure our aircraft safety; without you, we cannot save that Airman's life; without you, we cannot keep that deployed base secure; without you, we cannot manage our interagency communication; and without you, we cannot ensure due process.

In all, it is service before self and excellence in all we do, which each and every one of you validate every day.

In all my experience throughout the Air Force, it is the people who make the difference and the 908th is filled with superstars. As I get out to visit all of you in the coming months, I cannot help but smile as I see the pride you have in your shops and the can-do attitude that makes the 908th sing.

I "sing" off with a quote from Winston Churchill:

"To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour."
