Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Martin, MXG Commander

Lt Col Stuart L. Martin is the Commander of the 908th Maintenance Group, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. The group is comprised of two squadrons: the 908th Aircraft Maintenance and 908th Maintenance Squadron. The team of military and civilian members assigned to the group provides mission-ready aircraft, equipment, and fully trained personnel in all areas of aircraft maintenance for the remission to MH-139 helicopter. Their support extends to the legacy C-130’s, and the future MH-139 schoolhouse.

 

Lt. Col. Martin enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1990, and after a 4-year active-duty tour, he was honorably discharged in January 1994. He relocated to Bossier City Louisiana where he joined the Air Force Reserve’s 917th Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base. There he attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, and in 1997, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. He was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science, Knoxville, Tennessee in 2001. In 2002, he became an Air Reserve Technician while assigned to the 917th Wing, where he served as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer for the B-52 Stratofortress and the A-10 Thunderbolt. In 2006, he served a combat tour at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar as the Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer in Charge. In 2013, he deployed to Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait where he performed duties as the en route Aircraft Operations Officer for the C-17 Globemaster III.

 

In July of 2014, Lt. Col. Martin was selected to a command tour with the 403rd Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi, as the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander. In 2015, he graduated from the Air Command and Staff College via the non- resident program. In 2018, he volunteered as the Deputy Group Commander for the 447th Air Expeditionary Group, Camp Taji, Iraq where he provided logistical support for five forward operating bases. Upon return from deployment Lt Col Martin was selected as the Maintenance Group Commander at the 433d Alamo Wing Lackland Texas.  During this time Lt Col Martin forward deployed to Pakistan to serve a joint billet with the Office of the Defense Representative, U.S. Embassy Islamabad Pakistan.
