Colonel Shane Devlin, OG Commander

Col Shane M Devlin is the Commander, 908th Operations Group, Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, AL. He is responsible for an Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Operation Support Squadron and the Activation of the Air Force's newest Helicopter Flight Training Squadron. Prior to this assignment, Col Devlin was the Director of Inspections, 403d Air Wing, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. He was responsible for all matters pertaining to Air Force Inspection System and Commander's Inspection Program ensuring compliance and adherence to the regulations governing all matters pertinent to the Wing. After serving as the acting 403 Operations Group Commander, his proven abilities where recognized by the Wing Commander making him a by name request to get the Wing back on a compliant path. His leadership, respect, and tenacious drive are all attributes ensuring his success in this current role. Col Devlin received his commission in the U.S. Army National Guard on September 23, 1998. Col Devlin began his officer career in the Louisiana Army National Guard, Jackson Barracks, New Orleans, LA where he was an Aide de Camp to the State Adjutant General. Col Devlin was selected for and graduated Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, Aviation Officer Basic Course, Ft Rucker, Alabama , and received his wings in 2000. Col Devlin then attended and graduated from the UH-60 Aviator Qualification Course in January of 2001. Upon graduation, Col Devlin took over as a Platoon Leader, B Co. 1-244CAB, New Orleans, Louisiana.

In 2003, Col Devlin was selected to lead a detachment in support of Operation New Horizons, Dangriga, Belize. He was in charge of 16 soldiers and 2 UH-60s providing mission and casualty evacuation support. In December 2003, Col commanded A Co., 1-244 CAB, stationed at Balad Air Base, Iraq returning to the U.S. in March 2005. In August of 2005, Col led his troops in support of Hurricane Katrina, assisting federal agencies in the safe evacuation of thousands stranded by the rising flood waters. In 2007, Col Devlin relinquished command and left the LA Army National Guard to be gained by the 53d Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (WRS), 403d Wing, Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS. Col Devlin has held various positions in the 403d Wing and one Numbered Air Force, including Chief of Training, Assistant Director of Operations, Director of Operations, Chief of Group Training for the 403OG, Director of Staff, Second Air Force, 403d Deputy Operations Group Commander, 403d Operations Group Commander and currently the Director of Inspections, 403d Wing.
